Food Prices Increased by 1.07% Month-on-Month in August

According to TEPAV Food Price Index data, food prices rose by 1.07% month-on-month in August, while annual food inflation stood at 30.9%.
The Economic Policy Research Foundation of Turkey (TEPAV) released its Food Price Index (TEGE) data for the period of August 1-25. According to TEPAV data, food prices recorded a monthly increase of 1.07% in August, while annual food inflation was calculated at 30.9%. The data points to a continued horizontal trend in food inflation, with monthly food inflation in Northern Cyprus rising to 2.72%.
Significant price movements were observed in the fresh fruits and vegetables group in August. While prices for green beans, lemons, and melons were among the steepest declines, significant price increases were recorded for apples, cultivated mushrooms, and cucumbers during the same period.
