Russia to Lift Restrictions on Fertilizer Shipments to Turkey

Following discussions by Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı, it was agreed that fertilizer supplies from Russia will continue uninterrupted, and quarantine issues concerning fresh fruit and vegetable exports will be resolved.

Agreement for Uninterrupted Fertilizer Supply

The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has increased diplomatic efforts to alleviate the pressure of global geopolitical tensions and logistical disruptions on agricultural production. As a result of the contacts made by Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı, it was announced that there will be no restrictions on fertilizer shipments to Turkey this year. This agreement, reached at a time when geopolitical risks in the Black Sea and Middle East basins are negatively affecting fertilizer and freight prices, aims to secure input supplies for domestic producers. To clarify the technical details of the process, relevant institutions and company representatives from both countries will reconvene in Turkey on October 25.

Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exports and Quarantine Solutions

During the meetings led by Minister İbrahim Yumaklı, not only fertilizer but also Turkey's fresh fruit and vegetable exports were comprehensively addressed. In bilateral discussions, citrus and tomato trade, in particular, were brought to the table, and concrete steps were taken to resolve issues concerning Turkish tomatoes held at Russian border crossings. To eliminate disruptions in plant health and quarantine processes, it was agreed that expert teams from both countries would work in coordination and real-time communication. Similar contacts are being maintained with China and Turkic Republics, aiming for the uninterrupted operation of agricultural supply chains.
