Teams from the Sakarya Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry seized and destroyed 59,070 eggs found to be in violation of regulations during inspections at egg packaging facilities. In a statement from the directorate, it was reported that the confiscated products lacked traceability codes and were misleadingly coded as '1' (free-range) instead of '2' (cage-free).
Officials noted that official controls at packaging facilities will continue uninterrupted to prevent unfair competition and deceptive labeling.
