As part of a project coordinated by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, 16-head breeding cattle packages will be sold to producers in Siirt through the Meat and Milk Institution.
New Support for Cattle Breeding in Siirt
The "Let There Be a Herd" project has been launched under the coordination of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry to support livestock activities across Siirt and strengthen producers' breeding stock. According to the announcement made by the Siirt Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, cattle to be procured through the Meat and Milk Institution will be allocated to local producers through a sales method. The project aims to strengthen local livestock, increase the beef breed population, and enable rural family businesses to reach sustainable production capacity.

Package Contents and Capacity Limits
The packages offered to beneficiaries will consist of a total of 16 cattle, including 15 pregnant beef breed heifers and 1 breeding bull. Producers deemed to have sufficient herd capacity can apply for a minimum of 1 and a maximum of 3 packages, allowing them to purchase up to 48 animals in total. During the distribution process, priority will be given to allocating a single package per producer; additional package requests will only be considered if quotas remain.
Conditions for Applying Producers
Producers wishing to benefit from the project must be citizens of the Republic of Turkey and be at least 18 years old. Candidate farms must be registered under the applicant's name in the TÜRKVET registration system for at least one year, and their current capacity must be limited to a maximum of 200 head of cattle. Government officials and legal entities cannot apply, and only one application per household will be accepted, with priority given to female and young producers.

Collateral Amount and Payment Details
In the program where cattle will be allocated through sales, applicants are required to pay a collateral of 3,000 TL per animal. This collateral, totaling 48,000 TL for one package, must be deposited into the bank account designated by the Meat and Milk Institution in the producer's own name. Collateral amounts paid by producers who do not make the main list will be refunded in full at the end of the process, while successful beneficiaries will complete their final registration procedures.
Application Calendar and Results Date
Applications for the project, which covers Siirt center as well as the districts of Baykan, Kurtalan, Pervari, Şirvan, Eruh, and Tillo, will begin on November 4 and end on Friday, November 13, 2026, at the close of business. Producers must submit a petition in person to the provincial or district agriculture directorates or through their notarized representatives. Application lists will be posted on November 18-19, and after reviewing objections, the main and reserve beneficiaries will be finalized on November 30, 2026.
