High Lemon Harvest in Adana, But No Buyers
· GıdaTarım

As the mayer lemon harvest begins in Adana, which meets a significant portion of Turkey's citrus needs, producers are concerned about a lack of buyers despite an expected harvest of 710,000 tons.
In Adana, which accounts for 40% of Turkey's citrus production, the mayer lemon harvest has begun in Sakızlı Neighborhood, Yüreğir district. The Citrus Harvesting and Export Dates Determination Commission has announced September 11th as the lemon harvesting date and September 21st as the export date. Yüreğir Chamber of Agriculture Chairman Mehmet Akın Doğan, who inspected the production area, explained the process:
Despite the high yield, a shortage of buyers is noticeable for the product, which is currently selling for between 6 and 12 TL per kilogram in the field, depending on quality. Yüreğir Chamber of Agriculture Chairman Mehmet Akın Doğan commented on the market, referencing the frost damage from the previous period:
Doğan stated that they expect the export process, which will begin on September 21st, to invigorate the market.
