The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has updated its list of products identified as counterfeit and adulterated following official inspections conducted to ensure food safety. The latest list published by the Ministry announced three different yogurt products to the public. As a result of laboratory analyses, foreign additives were detected in the yogurts of two brands, while one buffalo yogurt was also added to the list of adulterated products. These inspections and public announcements are continuously carried out within the framework of Law No. 5996 to protect consumer health.
The Ministry's published list of counterfeit and adulterated products recorded the unlawful use of gelatin and starch in two yogurt brands. These foreign substances were detected in 500-gram yogurt packages belonging to Hayat Doğal Yoğurt, sold in Kilis Merkez, and the İnkaya brand, operating in the Gürsu district of Bursa. Gelatin and starch, added to artificially alter the yogurt's consistency and texture, were documented and exposed through official analysis reports.
Another non-compliant product on the list was Safimis brand buffalo yogurt, produced in the Eyüpsultan district of Istanbul. Following the examination of samples taken by Ministry inspectors, it was confirmed that the product sold under the name of buffalo yogurt contained adulterants. The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has initiated legal proceedings against the aforementioned firms for non-compliant production, emphasizing that inspection and disclosure practices will continue to ensure consumers have access to safe food.
