Hazelnut Producers Face Yield and Price Pressure

CHP Ordu Deputy Mustafa Adıgüzel stated that producers are experiencing income losses of up to 30,000 Turkish Liras per ton due to purchases below the floor price and discrepancies in yield calculations in the hazelnut market.

CHP Ordu Deputy Mustafa Adıgüzel drew attention to the economic losses faced by producers, addressing the disruptions in the hazelnut market. Adıgüzel, who claimed that Fiskobirlik's management is making purchases below the floor price, criticized the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, the Turkish Grain Board (TMO), and exporter associations. Alleging that the government is not intervening sufficiently in the market and that its audit statements do not reflect reality, CHP Ordu Deputy Mustafa Adıgüzel made the following statements targeting market actors:

Criticizing the purchase criteria implemented by the Turkish Grain Board, CHP Ordu Deputy Mustafa Adıgüzel argued that inconsistencies in yield calculations directly harm producers. Stating that significant losses occur in the measurements, CHP Ordu Deputy Mustafa Adıgüzel expressed the imbalance with the following words:

Adıgüzel claimed that due to these calculation differences, producers are experiencing income losses of up to 25,000-30,000 Turkish Liras for one ton of hazelnuts and up to 50,000-60,000 Turkish Liras for two tons of hazelnuts.

Reporting that hazelnut producers are struggling with escalating input and harvesting costs, CHP Ordu Deputy Mustafa Adıgüzel stated that last year the product was harvested at cost, and this year the income earned does not even cover seasonal labor costs. Emphasizing that producers and local tradesmen in the region are not achieving the expected earnings from the harvest period, CHP Ordu Deputy Mustafa Adıgüzel issued the following warning regarding the current market order:
