Strawberry Production Rapidly Expanding in Samsun with Support

Samsun Metropolitan Municipality provided modern strawberry cultivation support on 70 decares to 56 producers, primarily in Alaçam, to revitalize rural production.

Strawberry Production Support for Rural Development

Samsun Metropolitan Municipality is implementing a comprehensive project to strengthen rural development and increase high value-added agricultural production. According to municipal data, strawberry production support has been provided on a total of 70 decares to 56 producers in 2025 and 2026. Producers received complete inputs, including strawberry seedlings, mulch film, drip irrigation systems, fertilizers, and water tanks. The project aims to modernize strawberry cultivation in the Alaçam district and expand it on a commercial scale.

Strawberry Gardens Growing with Reverse Migration

These comprehensive agricultural supports offered by the municipality directly encourage a return to rural areas. Producer Ramazan Büyüktanrıverdi, 42, who returned to his hometown of Kızlan Neighborhood in Alaçam after working in the textile sector in Bursa for 25 years, evaluated the process with the following words:

'I was in Bursa for 25 years, but when I heard about the support from Samsun Metropolitan Municipality, I decided to return to my hometown. I am very grateful to our Metropolitan Mayor, Halit Doğan, for this support. We are currently producing on 2 decares of land. The yield is very good.'

High Yield and Unique Aroma

İlhan Güngör, 43, who produces in the Vicikler Neighborhood of Alaçam, increased his initial 1-decare production area to 4 decares with additional support from the municipality. Stating that they achieve 2-3 tons of product per decare due to the aromatic quality brought by the soil structure, Güngör expressed that strawberries contribute significantly to the family budget. Samsun Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Halit Doğan also noted that they will continue to transform the labor of producers into profit and plan to deliver Alaçam strawberries, which stand out with their unique aroma, to much wider audiences nationwide.
