Chicken Meat Export Quota Increased to 50,000 Tons Monthly

The chicken meat export, which was halted in February, has been subject to a new regulation, raising the monthly quota to 50,000 tons.

A new regulation has been implemented for chicken meat exports, which were halted in February. Ali Can Yamanyılmaz, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Mediterranean Fisheries and Animal Products Exporters' Association, announced that the monthly chicken meat export quota has been increased to 50,000 tons with the recent decision. Yamanyılmaz stated that the sector faced difficulties during the restriction period, with 250,000 to 300,000 tons of product accumulating in warehouses.

Ali Can Yamanyılmaz, a Member of the TİM Sectoral Council and Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Mediterranean Fisheries and Animal Products Exporters' Association, highlighted the issue of surplus production and loss of export revenues, making the following assessment:

Turkey currently has a poultry meat production of 2.8 million tons. Of this, 2.2 to 2.3 million tons are consumed in the domestic market. The surplus production is exported. In the past periods, exports were halted due to certain practices. Our Ministry has made the right decision to reopen this avenue again. In previous years, our poultry product exports exceeded 1 billion dollars. However, this year, we will barely close with 500 million dollars. This is because we have incurred a loss here.
