Joint Action Against Pesticide Residues in Bursa Agriculture

Sector stakeholders convened in Bursa as part of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry's Residue Communication Strategy, addressing the B-Reçete system and residue risks in exports.
Critical Residue Summit in Bursa
A large-scale event was organized in Bursa within the framework of the Pesticide Residue Communication Strategy, implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry in 2025. The meeting, hosted by the Food and Feed Control Central Research Institute Directorate, was attended by Bursa Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Acar, Institute Director Yıldıray İstanbullu, public officials, agricultural chambers, exporter unions, and producers. The meeting aimed to limit chemical use in agricultural production and ensure a reliable supply of products.
B-Reçete and Export Risks
Bursa Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Acar drew attention to the B-Reçete application, introduced to reduce pesticide use in plant production, and recalled that residue risks pose serious problems in export markets, leading to product rejections, stating:
"We will discuss the status of pesticides in Turkey, what kind of treatments we apply to products in or from exports, and how we protect our people against pesticides; we will also see why our Ministry has adopted the B-Reçete application."
Sustainable Control and Solutions
As part of the program, Hakan Örnek, an expert from the Bornova Agricultural Pest Control Research Institute Directorate, gave a technical presentation to producers. The presentation detailed good agricultural practices, sustainable plant protection methods that minimize chemical use, and the responsibilities of stakeholders. During the Q&A session, problems encountered by producers in the field were discussed, and it was noted that coordination between public institutions, technical personnel, dealers, and exporters is critical in preventing residues.
Digital Monitoring with SafeFoodTR
The digital infrastructure developed within the scope of the environmental sustainability-focused project was also introduced to stakeholders at the event. It was stated that export legislation and current residue limits can be monitored via the SafeFoodTR website, introduced by Food and Feed Control Central Research Institute Director Yıldıray İstanbullu. Officials announced that information sharing and training among stakeholders will continue with the aim of reducing residue risk to zero in the supply chain from production to the table.
