Agricultural Lands Unused for Two Years in Sivas to Be Leased

The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry is leasing idle agricultural lands in Sivas, which have remained uncultivated for two consecutive years, on a seasonal basis for agricultural production purposes.

Within the scope of the studies conducted by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, agricultural lands that have remained uncultivated for two consecutive years are being leased on a seasonal basis for agricultural production purposes. Within the framework of the 2026 production year, idle agricultural parcels across Sivas have been individually identified by Provincial and District Land Determination Commissions established under Law No. 5403 on Soil Conservation and Land Use and related regulations. Following the completion of the announcement phase, which began on September 1, lease applications for the finalized lands are being collected by the Sivas Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry.

The prices for the agricultural lands subject to lease are determined in a way that they will not fall below the fair value determined by the commission. In the calculation of the fair value, the rental amounts of at least three agricultural lands with completely similar characteristics and located in the same settlement area as the parcel to be leased are considered comparable. While the rental income generated is directly transferred to the rightful landowners, producers can easily apply by submitting lease request forms to the provincial directorates or electronically through the Agricultural Lands Valuation and Acquisition Information System.

The parcels brought back into production through the leasing mechanism will be directly integrated into the ministry's agricultural production planning by being included in the Farmer Registration System (ÇKS). This implemented model aims to both bring idle lands back into the national economy and expand the volume of local crop production. Officials strongly emphasize that the project underway will not only increase agricultural supply but also place food supply security on much stronger foundations across the country.
