Trakya Birlik has announced its pre-purchase price for sunflower at 37,000 TL per ton for the 2026/2027 season, having already procured over 235,000 tons of product.
Trakya Yağlı Tohumlar Tarım Satış Kooperatifleri Birliği (Trakya Birlik) has set the pre-purchase price for sunflower at 37,000 TL per ton for the 2026/2027 production season from its producer members. In its official statement, the union highlighted the increasing strategic value of agricultural production and food supply chains on a global scale. It was stated that the aim is to strengthen domestic production capacity in the oilseed group and reduce external dependency. This determined base tariff is intended to ensure the healthy functioning of the market during the harvest period and protect producer incomes.
While the sunflower harvest, which began in mid-August, is continuing intensively in the production regions, the overall process is expected to be completed by the end of September. According to Trakya Birlik data, product acceptance continues uninterrupted at 109 purchase points affiliated with 48 cooperatives and 2 factories throughout the harvest period. According to the announced figures, a total of 235,979 tons of sunflower have been procured by the union to date. International market levels, customs regimes, exchange rates, and financing costs were taken into account during the price determination process.
The primary criterion for sunflower purchases in the new season is a base oil content of 44%. For every 1% increase or decrease in the product's oil content, a price multiplier of 1.5% will be reflected in the final price. Payments to member producers will be made through the cooperatives within a calendar framework to be established based on the delivery date of the product. It was announced that if additional income is generated from the processing and sale of the procured products after the season ends, this difference may be distributed to the producer members.
