Agriculture Ministry Budget Faces Sharp Cut for 2027

According to Medium-Term Program data, while the general budget allocation ceiling was increased, the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry's budget for 2027 saw a 29.3% reduction.
Sharp Decline in Agriculture Budget
According to data from the Medium-Term Program (OVP) published in the Official Gazette, the budget allocation proposals for public administrations for 2027 have been finalized. Amidst rising food prices and input costs, the budget for the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry was cut by 29.3%. The ministry's budget, which was 541.8 billion lira in 2026, fell to 383 billion lira for 2027. This reduction in resources, which plays a fundamental role in financing agricultural production and farmer support, was among the indicators that will directly affect producer budgets.
General Change in Public Allocations
According to OVP data, the total allocation ceiling for administrations within the scope of the general budget increased by 32.2% from 18 trillion 801 billion 514.8 million TL in 2026 to 24 trillion 854 billion 241.7 million TL. This increase surpassed the year-end inflation forecast of 28.4% for 2026. In contrast, while five ministries faced cuts, the allocation for the Ministry of Transportation decreased by 44.6%, the Ministry of Energy by 25.1%, the Ministry of Industry by 18%, and the Ministry of Culture by 0.4%. The budget for the Directorate of Religious Affairs, however, increased by 31.4% to 229.1 billion lira.
