Saffron Cultivated as an Alternative Crop in Konya's Çumra District

In Konya's Çumra district, a young agricultural engineer has started saffron production on a 700-square-meter plot as part of efforts to support small family businesses.
Saffron has been planted on a 700-square-meter plot belonging to a young female agricultural engineer in the Karkın neighborhood of Konya's Çumra district. Hüseyin Yasin Düğmeci, the Çumra District Director of Agriculture and Forestry, and technical personnel from the Konya Metropolitan Municipality met with the producer in the field during the planting to provide technical information on saffron cultivation, care practices, and methods for increasing productivity.
A statement from the Konya Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry indicated that field studies are ongoing to strengthen small family businesses in the region through alternative agricultural products, add value to producer labor, and diversify and develop agricultural production.
