Mobile Honey Production Begins on a Truck Trailer in Kars

Kars-based beekeeper Yücel Üzeyir is producing honey in high-altitude plateaus with a solar-powered mobile truck trailer integrated with 340 hives.

Easy Access to Plateaus with Mobile Beekeeping

Yücel Üzeyir, who carries out beekeeping activities in Kars, has introduced a remarkable innovation to increase honey production efficiency. Instead of transporting beehives one by one, the producer converted a truck trailer into an eight-story mobile facility, accommodating a total of 340 hives. The electricity needs of this mobile facility, whose design is entirely his own, are met by 10-kilowatt solar panels installed on the trailer. Thanks to this integrated system, bee colonies can be easily transported to the high-altitude plateaus with Kars' rich vegetation without any transportation difficulties.

Harvest Season with a Historic Bellows

The honey harvest season has officially begun at the mobile production center located in the Çamık Mountains area of Doyumlu village in the Susuz district. The beekeeper, collecting honey one by one from the hives in the eight-story system, utilizes a historic terracotta bee bellows, approximately 150 years old, during the process. Beekeeper Yücel Üzeyir, stating that they harvest the honey produced in the rich flora directly on the trailer, explained the process as follows:

"I harvest the honey produced in the hives on the truck trailer using a terracotta bee bellows that is about 150 years old. I obtain smoke by burning a fire inside. With this traditional method passed down from the past, we calm our bees and carry out our harvest."
