Unauthorized Fish Products Recalled in the US

The U.S. Department of Agriculture announced that over 5,000 pounds of frozen Swai fish, originating from the United Arab Emirates and lacking an inspection stamp, have been recalled across eight states.
Recall Due to Unauthorized Import
According to an official statement from the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), Shan Distribution Network Inc. is recalling 5,084 pounds of frozen, breaded Swai fish products from the market. Officials reported that the fish, identified as belonging to the Siluriformes genus, were found during routine inspection activities to be of United Arab Emirates origin, a country not authorized to export such products to the U.S. The affected products, produced between December 2025 and with a best-by date of June 2027, include 13.75 oz Al Kabeer spicy Zing fish fillets, 10.58 oz fish sticks, and 330g fish fillets.
Distribution Network and Consumer Warnings
It was noted that the imported aquatic products subject to the recall lacked an establishment number and an official USDA inspection stamp. The products were distributed to retail locations in the states of Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio, and Wisconsin. According to FSIS data, no confirmed illness cases have been reported from the consumption of these products. However, the inspection agency has warned consumers about the potential presence of these products in their freezers, urging that the specified packages should not be consumed under any circumstances and should either be discarded directly or returned to the point of purchase.
