TÜRKŞEKER Explores Export Opportunities at Food Fair in Damascus

Participating in the 360 Food Syria & Agritech Expo held in Syria, TÜRKŞEKER assessed market opportunities by examining regional sugar demand and logistics capabilities firsthand.

The 360 Food Syria & Agritech Expo was held in Syria's capital, Damascus, between October 1-3, 2026. The event, which opened its doors at the Damascus International Fairground, took place on a 24,000 square meter area with the participation of 120 companies from 18 countries. Over 10,000 sector professionals and delegations were hosted throughout the event. At the opening of the fair, Damascus International Fairground General Manager Mohamed Hamza, Syrian Deputy Minister of Agriculture Dr. Muhammed Almikdad, and Advisor to the Turkish Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry Mehmet Sığırcı delivered speeches and signed a joint food vision agreement.

Within the scope of the fair, sugar supply processes, a key input in the agriculture and food industry, were discussed. The critical role of sugar in meeting the raw material needs of the food industry, which is undergoing a reconstruction process in the region, and in establishing food security was evaluated. TÜRKŞEKER's Head of Retail Sales and Logistics Department, Mahmut Ünsal, and Head of Marketing and Sales Department, Halil İbrahim Havaslı, made assessments regarding raw material planning and regional product flow in sectoral meetings held at the fairground.

TÜRKŞEKER, operating with 14 sugar factories across Turkey, completed its engagements at the fair to share its experience in beet farming and industrial production. The institution's delegation directly examined data on regional sugar demand, market structure, logistics routes, and distribution capabilities. According to the statement made, the public enterprise will continue to participate in international sectoral organizations to evaluate commercial potential and cooperation opportunities in neighboring geographies.
