Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that a special legal regime will be implemented starting in 2027 to facilitate the use of drones in agriculture, aiming to boost production and overcome high logistics costs in the Far East.
The Era of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles in Agriculture
Russian President Vladimir Putin made critical assessments regarding the future of the agricultural sector at the plenary session of the Eastern Economic Forum. Putin announced that a special legal regime is planned to be implemented starting January 1, 2027, for the rapid integration of new technologies in the region, stating that unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) will be widely used in agricultural production. Emphasizing that technological solutions should be easily tested and implemented on the ground without requiring numerous bureaucratic approvals, the Russian leader also stated that greenhouse production, fertilizer supply, and international cooperation will be supported in this process.
Logistics Costs and Apple Supply
Drawing attention to food prices in the Far East region, Vladimir Putin explained that the main reasons for price differences are challenging production conditions and logistics costs. Comparing apple prices between Vladivostok and Rostov, Putin stated that prices remain more stable in the southern regions due to more favorable climate conditions and the lack of need for long-distance transportation. Noting that the apple supply across the country is at an insufficient level, Putin emphasized that urgent work must be carried out to close this gap and strengthen local supply chains.
