Four-Meter Domestic Silage Corn Grown in Beykoz

Domestic silage corn varieties, cultivated in a trial plot established in Beykoz, Istanbul, were introduced to producers with plant heights reaching 4 meters and a yield potential of up to 9 tons per decare.

Domestic Seed Trial in Beykoz

A field trial was conducted in Beykoz's Alibahadır neighborhood, coordinated by the Istanbul Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry in collaboration with the Sakarya Corn Research Institute and the Beykoz District Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry. A total of 8 decares were allocated to showcase the adaptation of domestic corn seeds, used in animal feed production, to the region for producers. Within the scope of the study, Kale and Aga varieties, which are registered domestic seeds, were planted in four-decare plots and presented for on-site inspection by producers.

Yield Characteristics of the Aga Variety

The Aga silage variety, developed and registered by the Sakarya Corn Research Institute in 2015, stands out with its physical development and high yield. According to data from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, this corn variety can reach plant heights between 3.2 and 4 meters, offering a green plant yield potential of 8 to 9 tons per decare under suitable cultivation conditions. The variety also draws attention with its strong resistance to common field diseases such as fusarium and cob rot.
