The Agriculture Advisory Board, established within IGSAŞ, convened its first meeting in Istanbul to address the climate crisis, carbon regulations, and supply risks.
Transformation in Agriculture and Priority Risks
IGSAŞ held its inaugural meeting in Istanbul with its Agriculture Advisory Board, established to support the sustainable development of Turkey's agriculture. The current state of the global and local agricultural sector was comprehensively discussed during the meeting. Throughout the discussions, the impacts of climate change on agricultural production, the obligations arising from new carbon regulations, energy costs, and supply chain resilience were detailed. Furthermore, new opportunities offered by digital technologies were evaluated, and strategic topics that will contribute to the sector's transformation were identified.
Strategic Board Structure and Objectives
While IGSAŞ General Manager İlkay Ünal and company executives attended the meeting, the board included İş Bankası Agriculture Banking Marketing Manager Umut Yiğit, Strategic Advisor Tunç Emre Toptaş, and Academic Advisor Metin Turan. The board, which brings together different areas of expertise, is planned to continue its work through regular meetings. The evaluations to be made are aimed at guiding the company's long-term strategies and increasing the global competitiveness of Turkish agriculture.
