595 Decares of Land to Receive Water in Bursa's Yenişehir

Bursa Metropolitan Municipality is providing vital water to 595 decares of agricultural land by constructing a 5,664-meter transmission line from Evkaya Stream to Alaylı Pond, whose water level has dropped due to drought.

New Transmission Line to Alaylı Pond

Bursa Metropolitan Municipality BUSKİ General Directorate is carrying out a comprehensive capacity increase project to bring water to the agricultural lands in Alaylı Neighborhood, Yenişehir district. Currently, Alaylı Irrigation Pond, with a storage capacity of 240,000 cubic meters, was insufficient to meet the water needs of producers due to reduced rainfall. To solve this problem, teams are constructing a 5,664-meter transmission line that will carry water to the pond by building a dam on Evkaya Stream. Approximately 25 liters of water per second will be transferred to the pond through this new system, which consists of pipes of various diameters.

Vital Water to Be Provided to Producers

Upon completion of the ongoing technical studies, the irrigation water needs of a total of 595 decares of agricultural land in the region will be secured. Alaylı Neighborhood Head Kadir Çevik reported that livestock farming is predominant in the area and that the roughage needs of the animals are met through local agricultural production. Emphasizing that the pond level has become insufficient due to drought linked to the climate crisis, producers stated that idle plots will be cultivated again thanks to the transmission line. Neighborhood residents also expressed that the young population can generate income by returning to agricultural production.
