· GıdaTarım

Within the scope of the project launched in cooperation with the Governorship of Çanakkale and Ziraat Bank, small ruminant breeders will be provided with interest-free financing up to 2 million lira with a 7-year maturity.
Major Support for Small Ruminant Production in Çanakkale
The "I Have Many Reasons to Live in My Village" project, implemented for breeders seeking to sustain themselves in rural areas, has been launched in Çanakkale. Financing will be provided to producers in line with the protocol signed between the Governorship of Çanakkale and Ziraat Bank on August 26. In the program, which aims to develop small ruminant husbandry and increase the production capacity of registered Ezine cheese, businesses will receive interest-free financing up to 2 million TL. Within the scope of the project carried out in cooperation with the Governorship and the bank, a 7-year repayment period is offered, and the aim is to bring a total of 10,000 small ruminant animals to producers in the region by the end of 2027.
Ongoing Protocols in Different Provinces
This financing model, targeting rural development, is not limited to a single province but is being expanded through various governorships across Turkey. According to information provided by Ziraat Bank, application calendars are determined regionally for protocols prepared according to each province's agricultural potential. Indeed, within the scope of 2026 implementations, producer applications in Ardahan were accepted between January 19 and February 20, and the new term application process has also been officially launched in Sinop. Breeders in different provinces can benefit from suitable conditions for breeding stock procurement and feed support within the framework of the terms set by their local administrations.
Sustainable Husbandry and Financing Model
The project, launched by Ziraat Bank in the last quarter of 2020, aims to bring the idle capacities of small ruminant husbandry businesses into production. The program operates as an investment and capacity increase-based business financing, rather than a non-reimbursable grant for returning to villages. According to data shared by the bank, key objectives include supporting red meat supply by increasing the domestic breed small ruminant population and reducing live animal imports. In addition to credit support, producers are also offered services such as breeding stock selection, feed trough provision, and technical consultancy.
