Livestock Support Budget to Increase by 43% Next Year

According to Presidential Annual Program data, the agricultural support budget has been raised to 235 billion lira, with the share allocated to the livestock sector set to exceed 52.5 billion lira, marking a 43.4% increase.

Record Increase in Livestock Budget

According to the 2027 Presidential Annual Program data, the agricultural support budget for 2026 is projected to reach 167.6 billion lira by the end of the year. The agricultural support budget planned for next year has been increased by 40.2% to 235 billion lira. Within this substantial budget, enhancing the productivity of the livestock sector has been set as a primary objective. While the support allocated to livestock reached 36 billion 616 million lira this year, it will be increased by 43.4% to 52 billion 504 million lira next year.

Additional Coefficients for Breeding and Quality

Significant structural adjustments have been made to the livestock support model through a Presidential Decree published in the Official Gazette dated September 7, 2026. With this fundamental change, additional coefficients have been granted to calves and lambs born from embryo transfer and sex-sorted semen applications. Furthermore, female breeding calves that have undergone genomic testing, as well as lambs and kids born at mobile veterinary checkpoints, have been included in the support scope. An increase in coefficients has also been provided for raw milk marketed through disease-free herds and professional competency certificate holders.

Pasture Improvement and Vaccine Investments

To address the roughage deficit in the livestock sector, efforts to ensure sustainable use and improvement of pastures are being carried out without interruption. Following pasture identification and demarcation processes, field applications aimed at increasing forage yield and nutritional quality are continuing seamlessly. Improvement projects are not limited to vegetation but also encompass the construction of structures that aid grazing. To safeguard animal health, a new domestic vaccine production facility is being built within the Ankara Etlik Veterinary Control Center Research Institute Directorate.

Insurance Shield Against Frost Damage

A total of 23.1 billion lira in damage compensation was paid to insured producers who suffered losses in last year's agricultural frost disaster. In accordance with the relevant Presidential Decree, an additional support of 23.86 billion lira was paid to affected farmers, bringing the total resources provided to 47 billion lira. The state premium support for frost coverage in plant products has been raised to 70%, and a basic insurance package has been launched for fruit types. According to TARSİM data, as of October 3, 2026, 23.6 billion lira in premium support and 11.6 billion lira in compensation have been paid against 2.25 million policies.
