Ministry to Import 480,000 Feeder Cattle in 2027

The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry announced the 2027 feeder cattle import quota at 480,000 head, with applications to be accepted in October 2026.

According to data from the General Directorate of Livestock under the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, a total of 480,000 feeder male cattle will be allowed for import within the scope of the 2027 plan, excluding public institutions and organizations. Of this determined quota, 380,000 head will be allocated to large-scale enterprises with a barn capacity of 200 head or more. The remaining 100,000 head quota will be reserved for small and medium-sized producers with a fattening barn capacity of less than 200 head.

According to the announcement by the General Directorate of Livestock, applications for feeder male cattle imports will be accepted between October 5, 2026, and October 16, 2026. Producers will need to submit their applications in person to their affiliated Provincial or District Agriculture and Forestry Directorates. The capacities of the applying enterprises will be audited through the TÜRKVET system, and applications from producers without up-to-date capacity records in the system will not be processed.

According to the published directive, all import operations will be carried out through the Meat and Milk Institution (ESK) within the determined rules. Application reviews, quota allocations, the import of animals from abroad, and their delivery to enterprises will be conducted in accordance with the provisions of the Application and Evaluation Directive. Officials state that to prevent any hardship for producers, they should update their capacity definitions in their TÜRKVET records through the Provincial or District Directorates before applying.
