Russia's agricultural product exports to India surged 34% to $1.5 billion in the first nine months of 2026, marking the second-highest historical level.

Second Highest Peak in Exports Historically

According to data from the Russian Federal Agroexport Center, Russia's agricultural product exports to India saw a 34% increase in value during the first nine months of 2026. In the January-September period, the volume of products shipped to India rose by 11% year-on-year to 1.3 million tons. The revenue generated from these shipments reached $1.5 billion, marking the second-highest level in history in terms of both volume and value. According to the center's data, the record period was in 2024, when 2.5 million tons generated $1.7 billion in revenue.

Sunflower Oil's Share in Trade

The bulk of export revenues came from vegetable oil shipments. Sunflower oil exports constituted over 80% of the total earnings, amounting to $1.2 billion. According to Agroexport data, soybean oil held a share of over $150 million in the Indian market, dried peas over $34 million, lentils over $19 million, and coriander seeds approximately $18 million. India, one of the world's largest importers of vegetable oils globally, continued to maintain its strategic importance in the Russian agricultural products market during this period.
