Wheat Prices Rebound Sharply in Russia Post-Harvest
· Tarım Pusulası

Wheat prices in the Russian domestic market continue their three-week upward trend, with upward revisions in export forecasts and logistical bottlenecks at Black Sea ports reshaping the market.
Regional Wheat Price Increase Chart
Wheat prices across Russia maintained their three-week upward trend in the last week of October. According to Agroexpert data, prices per ton in Central Russia stabilized between $100.8 and $121.2, with some sales offers reaching up to $132. In the Volga region, prices rose by $4.8 per ton weekly, reaching the $96 to $115.2 band. Siberian region prices climbed to $146.4 per ton, and in the southern parts of the country, they reached up to $106.8. Following a sharp drop at the beginning of the harvest season, the market began a recovery process as of the end of September.

Harvest Pressure Evident in Sunflower Market
In contrast to wheat, the sunflower market saw downward price movements in most production basins. Prices in the Central region traded between $284.4 and $306 per ton, while in the south, a decline to $228 was recorded. However, the Siberian market saw an increase, with prices ranging from $332.4 to $356.4 per ton. The heavy supply of products to the market by producers and full inventories at crushing plants exerted significant pressure on prices. The harvest calendar is entering its final stages due to expected autumn rains in the region.
Export Expectations Revised Upward
Analysis firms continue to revise their October projections for the country's wheat exports upward. Rusagrotrans announced it had raised its October wheat export forecast from 2.9 million tons to 3 million tons. Similarly, market tracker SovEcon increased its monthly export forecast from 2.5 million tons to 2.8 million tons. IKAR expects total grain outflow to be in the range of 2.6 to 2.9 million tons. This strong export demand directly supports physical wheat purchase prices in the domestic market.

Port Shipments and Freight Costs
Despite the increase in export expectations, there is a noticeable slowdown in physical outflows from the main ports. Only approximately 60,000 tons of grain were shipped from Novorossiysk Port, the main gateway of the Black Sea, in the first 20 days of October. In the same period last year, this volume was 1.7 million tons. Due to shipment bottlenecks, the route has shifted to the Caspian and Baltic lines, with Caspian freight prices rising to $117 to $122 per ton. Per-ton costs for Baltic transportation also saw an increase of $42 compared to last year.
Latest Situation in the Feed Grain Market
In the feed grain group, corn and barley prices showed horizontal and limited movements with regional variations. Barley prices remained stagnant in most centers, while in the Volga region, they rose by $1.2 to $104.4 per ton. In the Central region, corn prices fell by $3.6 per ton, dropping to the $92.4 to $140.4 level. Feed wheat offers in the Central Black Earth region found buyers up to $120 per ton, while the Rostov Region proposed purchasing 5 million tons of wheat at a floor price of $180 per ton to the state intervention fund.
