Turkey Could Establish a New Logistics Corridor for Grain Trade

Amid rising logistical risks in the Black Sea and production disruptions in Europe, it is stated that Turkey needs to urgently establish a Food Logistics Corridor.
New Grain Risk in the Black Sea
The ongoing war environment in the Black Sea basin has once again escalated security and cost issues in global grain shipments. Agriculture Policy Expert Ergin Kahveci stated that the security of vessel traffic in the region, rising insurance expenses, and damage to grain storage infrastructure have deepened the logistics crisis. Kahveci noted that production disruptions in the European market are pressuring global markets, emphasizing that a more critical period than past grain initiatives has been entered, necessitating the development of new solutions.
Strategic Opportunity for Turkey
Stating that Turkey is in a much more advantageous position in terms of agricultural production power compared to the 2021-2022 season, Agriculture Policy Expert Ergin Kahveci argued that the country urgently needs to establish a Food Logistics Corridor. Evaluating the current situation, Agriculture Policy Expert Ergin Kahveci summarized the process as follows:
"A bigger window is now before us. This time, the issue is not just about Russia and Ukraine being able to use their ports."
Kahveci also said that it is imperative for Turkish farmers to primarily benefit from the potential economic gains to be achieved in this process.
