Content producer Keskin, who returned to his hometown of Sinop from the US, transformed his solo clean-up initiative against coastal pollution into an environmental solidarity movement with the participation of hundreds of volunteers.
Volunteer Environmental Movement on Sinop Coasts
Keskin, a content producer who returned to his hometown of Sinop about 2 years ago after residing in the United States for 5 years, has launched a large-scale environmental struggle against the pollution encountered on the coasts. The environmental volunteer took a significant step towards protecting the coastal ecosystem by collecting and documenting the waste accumulated on the coastline alone. Stating that Sinop stands out with its natural sandy beaches, Social Media Content Producer and Environmental Volunteer Keskin said:
"But when our children walk on these sands, they can step on glass or a rusty nail. Why is this? This stems from a lack of awareness among our people."
Clean-up Network Growing with Social Media
Aiming to create environmental awareness in society by sharing individual cleaning activities on digital platforms, Keskin quickly reached hundreds of followers and began organizing joint field events. Social Media Content Producer and Environmental Volunteer Keskin, sharing the intense interest the environmental movement received, stated:
"We now have a group of nearly 200 people. People can share places they see as polluted. There are also those who cannot come due to work or being outside the city. There are people who are not from Sinop but tag the relevant institutions, saying 'This place should be cleaned.' I have received truly positive feedback, both in comments and messages."
Nature Struggle for Future Generations
Keskin continues awareness efforts with the goal of keeping rural and coastal areas clean, calling on all segments of society to be sensitive about environmental cleanliness. Emphasizing that the nature conservation process requires long-term effort, Social Media Content Producer and Environmental Volunteer Keskin noted:
"We are nowhere near our target right now. Perhaps we will reach it after a very long time. But what matters is to take even a few steps on this path, or to be one of the first people on this journey. I am happy when I go somewhere and see it clean. That is enough for me. I have no other expectations."
