Grape Worker Daily Wages Announced in Manisa
The Manisa Chamber of Agriculture Provincial Coordination Board, through Hüseyin Altındağ, has publicly announced the recommended worker wages valid for the 2026 grape harvest period. According to the tariff planned for implementation starting August 10, 2026, it is proposed that cutting workers be paid 1,450 TL daily, with an additional 150 TL for the foreman, bringing the total cost to 1,600 TL. The net daily wage for the exhibition, basket, and pressing groups, including the foreman, was set at 1,750 TL. The tariff, determined based on an 8-hour workday under Law No. 4857 on Labor Law, leaves transportation fees to free negotiation.
Harvest Begins for Early Variety in Tekirdağ
In Tekirdağ, a leading center for Thracian viticulture, the new season's harvest for early table grape varieties has officially begun. Products harvested at the first light of dawn in the vineyards of the Tekirdağ Viticulture Research Institute are being packed into crates and dispatched to sales points in the city. Mehmet Ali Kiracı, Director of the Tekirdağ Viticulture Research Institute, noted that the variety was introduced to the sector through breeding efforts in 1991. Kiracı stated that thanks to its early ripening nature, the grape, which is brought to market before other varieties, provides producers with a significant market advantage.
Yield Expectation for Trakya İlkeren Variety
Ali İzzet Torçuk, a الزراعة (Agricultural) Engineer and specialist from the Cultivation Techniques Department at the Tekirdağ Viticulture Research Institute, reported that the Trakya İlkeren variety stands out with its high table grape quality and economic returns. Emphasizing that the variety, characterized by its black color, seeds, and crisp fruit texture, sees high demand in the market, Torçuk shared production details. Experts aim to achieve a total yield of 40 tons from the 20-decare vineyard area within the institute, highlighting the added value that early harvesting brings to producer income.
