Early Warning System Installed in Apple Orchards in Karaman
· Tarım Pusulası

Artificial intelligence-supported early warning systems and smart pheromone traps deployed in Kazımkarabekir, Karaman, will enable real-time monitoring of pests in apple production.
A significant agricultural technology project, of great interest to apple producers, has been launched in the village of Karalgazi in the Kazımkarabekir district of Karaman. The Kazımkarabekir Early Warning System Project, financed by the KOP Regional Development Administration within the scope of the Rural Disadvantaged Areas Development Project, has begun implementation in the field. Within the framework of the project, 6 smart pheromone traps and 1 early warning system placed in the orchards in the region will allow for real-time monitoring of factors damaging apple trees, precisely determining the optimal time for spraying.
Speaking at the project's introduction program, Karaman Governor Hayrettin Çiçek emphasized Karaman's strategic importance in the country's agriculture. Governor Çiçek stated that the KOP Regional Development Administration has provided a total investment and support of 4.5 billion TL for agricultural and rural projects across Karaman to date. Çiçek noted that these comprehensive investments directly contribute to farmers' income levels, and that the productivity and product quality obtained from unit areas by producers adopting modern agricultural techniques are increasing day by day.
Numerous producers, along with provincial and district protocol members, participated in the introductory event held in Karalgazi village. During the program, the working principles of artificial intelligence-supported smart pheromone traps and sensor-equipped early warning stations were explained in detail to the producers. Following the informational presentations, a symbolic harvest was carried out in a 40-decare apple orchard in the region with the participants. The established technological infrastructure aims to reduce input costs in the region, optimize chemical pest control, and minimize yield losses.
