Lentil Seed Support in Kemaliye
Within the scope of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry's Project for Enhancing the Utilization of Agricultural Lands (TAKE), a significant step has been taken in the Kemaliye district of Erzincan. At a ceremony held in Dutluca Village Square, a total of 23,300 kilograms of red lentil seeds were delivered with a 75% subsidy to 28 producers operating in the villages of Çakırtaş, Karapınar, Kışlacık, Çat, Adak, Ocak, Yazmakaya, and Dutluca. With the program attended by Kemaliye District Governor Emirhan Arıkan and officials from the Erzincan Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, a 12,000-kilogram increase was achieved in seed support, which was 11,300 kilograms in 2025.
Production Area and Targets
Thanks to the project carried out by the Ministry, the aim is to double the pulse cultivation area in the district. In Kemaliye, the red lentil production area, which was 700 decares in 2025, is targeted to reach 1,500 decares in the 2026 season with an increase of 800 decares. In the district, where the number of beneficiary producers increased from 18 to 28, approximately 120 tons of red lentils were harvested last year. With the new support initiative, it is planned to bring idle lands into production and to exponentially increase local yields.
