Bonito Season Opens Early for Coastal Fishermen

The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry announced that the bonito and torik fishing season for small-scale coastal fishermen will start 15 days earlier, on August 15.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has set August 15 as the start date for the bonito and torik fishing season, eagerly awaited by small-scale coastal fishermen. With this regulation, coastal fishermen who make a living with drift nets will be able to set sail and begin fishing 15 days earlier than planned.
Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı announced the decision to bring the season forward, stating:
"We are bringing the season forward by 15 days for our small-scale fishermen who earn their living with drift nets in bonito and torik fishing, starting it as of August 15. May God grant our fishermen abundant sustenance and their nets abundant blessings."
