Preparations have begun for the 3rd Agriculture and Livestock Fair in Balıkesir, scheduled for September 24-27, 2026, with ambitions to elevate the event to an international level.

Excitement Builds in Balıkesir for Third Agriculture Fair

Official preparations have commenced for the third Agriculture and Livestock Fair to be held in Balıkesir this year. The sectoral gathering is scheduled to take place from September 24-27, 2026, within the Ali Hikmet Paşa Facilities. The press launch, held at Onhann Termal Hotel, concluded with strong participation from deputies, district mayors, chamber and union heads, and numerous sector stakeholders. This major event, aiming to showcase the city's agricultural potential, seeks to directly connect regional producers with modern agriculture and livestock technologies.

Akın: Emphasis on Science and Technology

Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ahmet Akın, speaking at the press conference, highlighted the strategic importance of climate change, water resource management, and food supply security in the agricultural sector. Emphasizing that farmers must remain on their land and receive economic returns for their labor, Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ahmet Akın made the following statement:

'Science and technology must intersect more with production. I believe that a country that cannot empower its producers cannot build a strong future.'

Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ahmet Akın conveyed a message of determination, stating that the municipality will continue to stand by the producers:

'We will continue to protect Balıkesir's soil, producers, and future with the same understanding.'

The Balıkesir Model in Agriculture and Marketing

Ahmet Akın stated that under the 'Balıkesir Model in Agriculture' initiative, they support the production potential of all 20 districts in the province, announcing that they are strengthening seed, sapling, beekeeping, irrigation systems, and marketing chains. Expressing that agricultural products must gain high added value, Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ahmet Akın shared his goals:

'We want our producers' earnings to increase significantly. This way, we pave the way for our youth to produce on these lands. We are striving to transform Balıkesir's bounty into Balıkesir's prosperity.'

Touching upon the future vision of agriculture, Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ahmet Akın continued his remarks:

'Because the agriculture of the future is shaped by science, technology, efficiency, and proper resource management.'

Sector Representatives Aim for International Vision

CHP Group Deputy Chairman and Balıkesir Deputy Serkan Sarı, speaking at the launch event, said that the fair organization plays a key role in the process of directly converting producers' labor into profit. Stating that the organization reaches much wider audiences each year, CHP Group Deputy Chairman and Balıkesir Deputy Serkan Sarı conveyed the vision goal:

'Our intention is to develop our fair with an international vision.'

Sarı expressed his hope that the fair, which will open its doors between September 24-27, will contribute significantly not only to Balıkesir producers but also to the entire agricultural and livestock ecosystem of Turkey.

Chamber of Commerce Fully Supports the Organization

Balıkesir Chamber of Commerce President Rahmi Kula, in his institutional assessment, reported that the interest shown in the fair has been steadily increasing each period. Highlighting the great importance of such sectoral platforms for expanding Balıkesir's commercial transaction volume, Balıkesir Chamber of Commerce President Rahmi Kula noted:

'Hopefully, we will elevate this fair into an international Agriculture and Livestock Fair and make it the best fair in our country.'

Business world representatives underlined that the organization will serve as a critical bridge connecting producers and technology suppliers in the region.

Livestock Summit and Smart Mechanization

Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality Rural Services Department Head Gülnaz Çelikyurt Uzuner announced that the fair program will include a ram competition, native breed promotion events, and the Turkey Livestock Summit in the field of livestock. She stated that smart agriculture mechanization and seed activities will be prominent in the plant production segment, summarizing the needs:

'Our producers now need not only support but also accurate information, correct technology, and proper connections.'

Uzuner wished that the fairground, to be established within the Ali Hikmet Paşa Facilities, would be productive for all agricultural stakeholders.
