Truffle Potential Identified in Bingöl Oak Forests

Bingöl Governorship, Fırat Development Agency, and the Forest Management Directorate have launched a comprehensive project to identify truffle presence in oak forests and integrate it into the economy.

Truffle Research in Oak Forests

A comprehensive study has been initiated in Bingöl to identify truffle species with the potential for natural growth in its oak forests. Within the scope of the protocol signed at a ceremony held in the Governorship Meeting Hall, the project 'Determination of Truffle Potential in Bingöl Oak Forests and Development of Truffle Hunting Search-Harvest Capacity' has been launched. Meticulous field studies will be carried out in oak forest areas, and the ecological conditions in the region will be examined in detail.

Economic Integration and Training Objectives

The aim is to integrate truffles, which can fetch prices up to 350,000 Turkish Lira per kilogram, into the Bingöl economy. In the project, supported by the Fırat Development Agency, training programs are planned for searching, identifying, and sustainably harvesting truffles. Bingöl Governor Cahit Çelik, Fırat Development Agency Secretary General Mehmet Şirin Budancamanak, and Bingöl Forest Management Director İbrahim Börü attended the protocol signing ceremony, highlighting the project's contribution to regional development.
