Forest fruits collected from a natural area of 2,900 decares in Bolu are transformed into value-added products by a women's cooperative, contributing to the local economy.
A comprehensive project has been initiated in Bolu to collect and bring wild forest fruits such as raspberries, blackberries, rosehips, and wild strawberries into the economy. The work, carried out with the support of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry's General Directorate of Plant Production, is being conducted in an area of approximately 2,900 decares designated by the Bolu Forest Regional Directorate, which has not been exposed to fire or chemical applications in the last 3 years.
The fruits, collected from nature using sustainable methods, are processed into jam, marmalade, and dried fruit by the members of the Demirciler Gelincik Hanımeli Women's Cooperative. While the project aims to protect natural resources, it also seeks to increase rural women's employment and income diversity.
