Fresh Fig Exports Target $100 Million

Turkey has set a foreign sales target of $100 million for the 2026 season, following fresh fig exports reaching $94 million in 2025.
Record Export Target for Fresh Figs
The 2026 export season for Bursa Black and Sarilop fresh fig varieties, in which Turkey holds a leading position in global markets, has officially begun. According to data shared by Cengiz Balık, Chairman of the Aegean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters' Association, Turkey exported 20,112 tons of fresh figs in 2025, generating $94 million in revenue with a 17% increase. Of this revenue, $76 million came from the Bursa Black variety and $17 million from the Sarilop variety. The association has set an export target of $100 million for the 2026 season.
Export Distribution by Market
Germany ranked first by a significant margin for both fig varieties in export markets. According to data from the Aegean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters' Association, sales of black figs to Germany amounted to $22 million, to Austria $10 million, to Russia and the UK $8 million each, and to the Netherlands $6 million. For the Sarilop variety, Germany maintained its leadership with $7 million, while Russia and Austria were recorded as other significant purchasing countries with $4 million and $3 million respectively.
