Poultry and Milk Production Increased on an Annual Basis

According to TurkStat data, chicken egg production increased by 21.0% year-on-year in June, while the amount of cow's milk collected by commercial enterprises increased by 6.5%.

Strong Production Increase in Poultry Farming

According to data shared by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat), a significant increase was recorded in the poultry farming sector in June. Chicken egg production rose by 21.0% compared to the same month last year, while the number of chickens slaughtered increased by 14.4% and chicken meat production by 14.7%. In the first six months of the year, chicken egg production increased by 18.6%, while the number of chickens slaughtered and chicken meat production showed a horizontal trend with increases of 1.2% and 0.3% respectively.

Annual Upward Trend in Milk Production

According to milk and dairy product statistics, the amount of cow's milk collected by commercial enterprises increased by 6.5% in June compared to the same month last year. In the January-June period, the amount of milk collected also increased by 1.5%. On an annual basis, cow cheese production increased by 8.5%, ayran and kefir production by 11.4%, yogurt production by 14.1%, drinking milk production by 11.7%, and butter production by 11.8%, demonstrating the overall growth in the dairy industry.

Partial Monthly Decreases Observed

In monthly comparisons, decreases were observed in some product groups. Chicken meat production, which was 202,336 tons in the previous month, increased by 14.8% to 232,238 tons. In contrast, egg production decreased by 1.0% to 1 billion 838 million 966 thousand units. The amount of cow's milk collected decreased by 2.7% from 1,022,587 tons in May to 995,463 tons, and drinking milk production fell to 139,778 tons.
