The new aquatic products fishing season has officially commenced at the Ankara Wholesale Fish Market, with abundant anchovy and bonito drawing attention on the stalls.

The fish and aquatic products season has been officially opened with a ceremony at the Ankara Wholesale Fish Market. The season opening program was held with the broad participation of Ankara Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry Ahmet Dallı, Head of the Administrative Affairs and Coordination Department of the General Directorate of Fisheries and Aquaculture Levent Sevimli, Chairman of the Ankara Wholesale Fish and Aquatic Products Market Atilla Süslü, and market tradesmen. Provincial Director Ahmet Dallı reminded that the aquatic products fishing season in the seas started on September 1, stating that the initial data from fishermen are very encouraging and that there is a fruitful activity in the seas.

Ankara Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry Ahmet Dallı stated that the fish supply in the market is directly reflected on the stalls, noting that anchovy and bonito are particularly offered in large quantities, and made the following assessment:

Dallı further advised citizens to consume fish at least twice a week for balanced nutrition.

Provincial Director Ahmet Dallı stated that official inspections have increased at the wholesale market and retail sales points with the start of the season, emphasizing that controls are continuously carried out to protect consumer health. Dallı said the following regarding the inspection processes:

Ahmet Dallı noted that Ankara serves as a key logistical center in aquatic products trade due to its central location, stating that products loaded at night arrive at the market by 05:00 AM. Dallı reported that the supply of Marmara anchovy and bonito is strong, and that seabass, trout, and pike-perch are being supplied from inland and sea farms. Within the scope of the opening program, Head of the Fisheries and Aquaculture Department Levent Sevimli and Chairman of the Ankara Wholesale Fish Market Atilla Süslü visited the tradesmen with the wish for the spread of consumption culture.
