Ministry Exposes 44 Fraudulent Food Products

The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry's updated list of imitation and adulterated products includes 44 new items, with the highest number of non-compliance found in dairy and meat products.
Imitation and Adulteration List Updated
The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has updated its list of imitated and adulterated foods as of August 20, 2026, to ensure food safety and protect consumers. According to the Ministry's statement, the new list shared with the public includes 44 different products. Laboratory analyses revealed non-compliant ingredients in basic food items. Officials stated that food inspections are ongoing and legal sanctions against businesses engaging in fraudulent production are being resolutely applied.
Adulteration in Dairy Products Ranks First
According to the Ministry's data, dairy and milk products constitute 25 of the 44 non-compliant products published. Serious adulterations were uncovered in staple consumption items such as kashar cheese, white cheese, yogurt, and toast cheese. It was documented that the fat content in these products was illegally low, melting salts were added as thickeners, or vegetable oils were mixed instead of milk fat. This high rate in the dairy market raises quality concerns within the sector.
Offal and Poultry in Red Meat
The meat and meat products group ranked second on the list with 14 entries. Investigations into ground beef, sucuk, kebab, lahmacun, and minced meat fillings revealed consumer deception. Products sold as beef were found to contain poultry meat and offal such as gizzards, hearts, and head meat. Adulteration cases, particularly in the fillings used in ready-to-eat meals and pide shops, were recorded among the significant non-compliance issues.
Low Fat Content Most Prevalent
According to the data released by the Ministry, low fat content was recorded in 14 products, making it the most common violation. Additionally, melting salts were detected in 8 products, poultry meat in 4 products, vegetable oil in 3 products, head meat in 3 products, and gizzards in 3 products. Multiple types of fraud were observed in some food items; for example, one cheese contained both vegetable oil and melting salts, while a lahmacun filling was found to contain both poultry meat and offal.
Aksaray Leads in Non-Compliance
When examining the distribution by province, Aksaray province had the highest number of non-compliant product records. Notably, all 8 products from Aksaray on the list consisted of cheese varieties. Aksaray was followed by Bilecik with 6 products, Kayseri with 4 products, and Sakarya and Mersin with 3 products each. Additionally, two products each from Antalya, Aydın, Elazığ, Uşak, and Ankara were included in the list. Regional inspection results clearly indicate that fraudulent dairy production is concentrated in specific centers.
Multiple Products from the Same Firm Exposed
Another notable detail was the sale of non-compliant products under multiple brands by a single firm. Six different products belonging to Zeni Süt ve Süt Ürünleri, operating in the Osmaneli district of Bilecik, were found on the list. Similarly, Aksaray Üçler Süt ve Yem had 4 separate products identified with imitation and adulteration. Furthermore, non-compliance such as honey adulteration, mixing seed oil with olive oil, and food coloring in spices were also documented on the list.
Inspections in Food Safety Will Continue with Determination
The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has announced that its inspections against fraudulent practices in the food chain will continue without slowing down. It was emphasized that the list of imitation and adulterated products will be regularly updated to ensure consumers have access to safe food. While reminding producers of the need for full compliance with regulations and hygiene standards, it was stated that administrative fines and legal proceedings will be pursued against businesses that gain unfair profits and disregard public health.
