Upward Trend in Official Prices
The upward trend in carcass cutting prices in the red meat market continues to be felt in August. According to data from the National Red Meat Council (UKON), the average beef carcass cutting price across regions in Turkey reached 594 TL/kg in the week of August 20. During the same period, the lamb carcass cutting price was recorded at 623 TL/kg. UKON data indicates a 4 TL increase in beef cutting prices and a 5 TL increase in lamb cutting prices compared to the previous week. This rise in cutting costs directly shapes the market expectations of livestock producers.
Discrepancy Between Exchange and Field Data
In addition to official council averages, significantly higher figures are being recorded on commodity exchanges and in the free market. According to data from the Ankara Commodity Exchange dated August 22, the beef carcass cutting price ranged from a minimum of 613 TL/kg to a maximum of 640 TL/kg, with an average of 623 TL/kg. The fact that the Ankara Commodity Exchange average is 29 TL above the UKON data is noteworthy, while field data shared on the TarımZiraat platform reports prices in some regions reaching between 620 TL/kg and 650 TL/kg.
