Raspberries, produced and processed in a greenhouse established by engineering brothers in Adana's Karataş district, are being delivered to the Chinese, Japanese, and South Korean markets.
Value-Added Exports from Adana to the Far East
In the Paşaköy neighborhood of Adana's Karataş district, agricultural engineer Yasin Çiner and software engineer Samed Çiner brothers began raspberry production in a 31-decare greenhouse established in 2025 with a Ziraat Bank loan. The entrepreneurs, who also grow different fruits on a 1500-decare area in Tarsus district of Mersin, harvested approximately 10 tons of raspberries in a 9-month period in the greenhouse to increase product diversity. Products frozen or powdered at the facility were exported to Far Eastern countries such as China, Japan, and South Korea, reaching challenging markets.
Targeting Forty Tons Annually and Hydroponic Farming
While the agricultural production facility provides continuous employment to 12 people, the number of workers reaches up to 40 during the harvest season. Agricultural engineer Yasin Çiner stated that the majority of the employees are women and that activities in the greenhouse are ongoing intensely. Çiner mentioned that they started production with the traditional soil-based farming method in the initial phase and announced that they will transition to hydroponic farming infrastructure in the new period, aiming to increase the annual yield to 30 to 40 tons.
