The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry is implementing new standards aimed at protecting consumers and preventing unfair competition in burger, döner, and traditional meat products.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry is making comprehensive amendments to meat and meat product legislation to ensure consumers are correctly informed and to prevent unfair competition. With the newly prepared rules, the term 'burger' will be defined in the legislation for the first time, achieving an official meat standard, while it will become mandatory to clearly state the production method details on the label for döner products.
Within the scope of the new regulation, the use of ingredients such as cheese and nuts in traditional products like sucuk, pastırma, and kavurma will be prohibited, and smoking processes will be excluded from the scope. New limitations will also be introduced regarding fat content in poultry meat products.
