Intense Demand for Nebiyan Beans Ahead of Harvest
· NTV Ekonomi

Nebiyan beans, cultivated in Samsun's 19 Mayıs district and with harvest approximately 15 days away, are finding buyers while still in the field thanks to their unique aroma.
Harvest Preparations for Nebiyan Beans
The first harvest of Nebiyan beans, produced at the foothills of the Nebiyan Mountains in Samsun's 19 Mayıs district, is approximately 15 days away. In the production concentrated in the Kösedik and Aydınpınar neighborhoods, while the pods are developing, the product is reportedly finding buyers while still in the field. It is noted that the region's soil structure, climate conditions, and Nebiyan water are directly decisive in the bean's unique flavor. It is stated that this distinct aroma cannot be achieved when the same seed is planted in different geographical areas.
Registration Target and Production Capacity
Şafak Ayvaz, one of the producers in the region, reported increasing his agricultural production area from 13,000 poles to 15,000 poles this season. The product, which is in high market demand due to its thin skin, quick cooking time, and non-disintegrating structure, is described as quite laborious by producers during its cultivation process. In the coming period, the aim is to register Nebiyan beans with geographical indication and to popularize modern irrigation methods.
