It is stated that the parties have reached an understanding within a certain framework concerning sanctions relief, the security of the Strait of Hormuz, and the nuclear program.

I am not an international relations expert, nor do I work on theoretical discussions in this field academically. However, as someone who has been involved in politics, state administration, bureaucracy, and regional developments for many years, I try to closely follow, read, and make sense of global developments.
Therefore, I believe the process between Iran and the US is not merely limited to diplomatic contacts between the two countries. In my opinion, this process represents a multi-layered situation that directly concerns many issues, from energy security to global trade, from Israel's regional policies to the China-Russia competition.
Especially after the humanitarian drama in Gaza, the Middle East has once again become the center of the world. Today, everyone sees more clearly: no crisis in this geography is purely regional. Every step taken here produces broad consequences, from oil prices to migration movements, from security policies to the global economy.
In my opinion, the US does not wish to risk a direct, large-scale war with Iran today. Because the economic cost of a prolonged war would be very heavy. Energy prices would rise, global trade would suffer, and China and Russia would gain new areas of advantage. For this reason, it is understood that the Washington administration has recently preferred the method of controlled tension and controlled negotiation.
From Iran's perspective, it is seen that the sanctions imposed for years have created significant fatigue. Economic pressures, social problems, and regional conflicts are pushing the Iranian administration towards new searches. Today, Iran is trying to protect its system on one hand, while on the other hand, it wants to breathe economically.
However, one of the most critical issues here is the matter of Israel.
To speak frankly, a large part of the world no longer trusts Israel's regional policies. Especially its attacks on Lebanon, what is happening in Gaza, and the targeting of women, children, and civilians have opened deep wounds in the international conscience. Today, not only in the Islamic world but also in Western societies, a serious trust problem has emerged regarding the Israeli administration.
In my opinion, Israel sees the environment of controlled tension, rather than lasting peace, as part of its security strategy in the region. Because it generates international support and legitimizes its regional military policies through a constant perception of threat.
Therefore, one of the most fragile dimensions of the process being discussed between Iran and the US will be Israel's approach. Because Israel wants not only the containment of Iran but its neutralization. Iran, on the other hand, is reluctant to completely lose its regional influence.
On the other hand, it must be stated that every step towards peace in the region is valuable. Because the Middle East must cease to be a geography associated with wars, destruction, migrations, and humanitarian dramas. Humanity has been living with the heavy consequences of the blood, tears, and instability that have flowed in this region for many years.
Therefore, it is undoubtedly important that the talks between Iran and the US reduce conflicts, lower regional tension, and strengthen diplomatic solutions. Hopefully, this process will lead not to new crises, but to the beginning of a more stable environment.
From Turkey's perspective, the diplomatic efforts being carried out in this process are also noteworthy. Turkey is not just an observer of developments; it is also an actor making significant initiatives to strengthen peace, stability, and diplomatic solutions in the region.
The diplomatic contacts pursued by our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the intensive communication traffic of our Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Turkey's approach prioritizing regional balance are being closely followed in this process. Turkey's diplomacy, particularly in preventing the escalation of wars, protecting energy security, and avoiding new humanitarian crises in the region, is extremely valuable.
In my opinion, Turkey today is not just a country concerned with its own security; it is also acting with an understanding that prioritizes regional peace, justice, and stability. Therefore, Turkey is emerging as a significant actor in the Middle East, not just observing but also guiding and balancing.
However, in my opinion, the process still needs to be read carefully. Because in Middle Eastern history, agreements are sometimes made not for lasting peace, but as preparation for greater struggles.
Indeed, in the modern world, wars are no longer fought solely with tanks, planes, or missiles. We are in a new era of struggle waged with economics, energy, media, technology, and diplomacy. From Turkey's perspective, it is clear that a very careful and balanced policy must be pursued. Because Turkey is directly affected by this process in terms of energy security, trade routes, and regional stability.
In my opinion, Turkey's most accurate approach is to support the non-escalation of conflict in the region, keep diplomatic channels open, and at the same time, not compromise on its own national security priorities.
The world may be on the verge of a new era today. However, we must read the unfolding developments not just through the daily news flow, but through historical memory, statecraft, and geopolitical realities.
