Sirnak Highland Honey Wins Gold Quality Award in London

'Sirnak Highland Honey', produced in the highlands of Sirnak, received the 'Gold Quality' award after receiving full marks in international laboratory analyses at the London International Honey Awards 2026 platform.

Local honey produced in the highlands of Sirnak has achieved significant success on the international stage, certifying its quality. The 'Sirnak Highland Honey' brand, established by producer Enver Külter, was awarded the 'Gold Quality' prize at the London International Honey Awards 2026 platform held in London, the capital of England. The domestic product, which is sent all over Turkey, received full marks in evaluations meeting international standards. Reflecting the rich flora of Sirnak, the honey returned with an award from a prestigious global competition, crowning the efforts of the local producer on a global scale.

Years of determination and intensive agricultural labor lie behind this success story. Enver Külter, 50, who settled in the Sirnak city center with his family after his village, Mehmet mezrası, in the Bestler Dereler region was evacuated in 1987, worked in various sectors for a long time. As jobs in the city center proved insufficient for livelihood, the producer sought new avenues and stepped into the beekeeping sector in the 2009-2010 period. Despite challenging conditions, Külter, who dedicated himself to agricultural production, quickly became one of the most stable beekeepers in the region.

Enver Külter, who started his beekeeping activities with very little capital, rapidly increased the number of his hives over time. Beekeeping producer Enver Külter, describing the development process in the sector, made the following statements:

Külter, who set high quality as his primary goal in the production process instead of increasing quantity, does not compromise on natural methods. Beekeeper Enver Külter, who prioritizes quality nectar flow over high yields, explained his production philosophy with the following words:

The pristine highlands stretching between Kato Mountain and Kel Mehmet Mountains offer a unique plant diversity for beekeeping activities. The hives established at the source of the Hizil River collect pure highland nectar, free from chemical pollution and enriched with endemic plant species. Although the challenging geographical conditions of the region limit the amount of honey collected by the bees, the nutritional value and flavor intensity of the resulting product reach the highest levels. Thanks to the preservation of the natural flora, the region's honey retains its unique characteristic aroma.

Confident in the superior qualities of his highland honey, Külter submitted the product to the London competition after having it analyzed by professional laboratories. Sharing the process, producer Enver Külter expressed his emotions as follows:

This international success once again proved the high agricultural and livestock potential of the Sirnak highlands. Transforming the natural production opportunities in the region into value-added products serves as an exemplary model for local rural development. When proper production techniques and branding steps are combined, highland products from Southeastern Anatolia find demand in the world market. The convergence of traditional beekeeping with modern quality standards creates a strong source of motivation for other producers in the region.
