Jujube Harvest Increases in Simav, But Prices Decline
· GıdaTarım

The jujube harvest has concluded in Simav, Kütahya, with the fruit now available in markets. Despite a high yield, a drop in product prices has left producers dissatisfied.
The harvest of jujube, known locally as the 'fruit of immortality,' has been completed in Simav, Kütahya, and the product is now on market stalls. Simav jujube, distinguished by its aroma and quality, is being dispatched to various provinces across Turkey as well as being sold in the local district market, with kilogram prices ranging between 50 and 80 TL.
Although the high yield in the region has brought abundance to the market, the decline in prices compared to last year and rising input costs have not met producers' income expectations. Market vendor and producer Yusuf Özkan evaluated the production and market situation in the region as follows:
Production continues in Simav. Planting has been ongoing for a long time, and the product quantity increases every year. However, this year we have a lot of product, but we lack price stability. The products have started appearing on market stalls. Sales have also begun in different provinces and districts of Turkey.
