Sugar Beet Floor Price Expected at 3,700 TL
· GıdaTarım

According to sector representatives' field analyses, following rising costs, the expected floor price for the 2026-2027 sugar beet production season ranges between 3,600 and 3,700 TL/ton.
3,700 Lira Price Expectation for Sugar Beet
As the announcement of the 2026-2027 sugar beet purchase price approaches, the sector's focus has turned to cost calculations. A field survey conducted by Tarımdan Haber among Türkşeker, Pankobirlik, PANŞEK, Konya Şeker, and Kayseri Şeker indicates a consensus expectation for 16-pol sugar beet to be between 3,600 and 3,700 TL/ton. While the average yield per decare was recorded at 6.7 tons last year, production costs per ton in the Central Anatolia region are calculated to have reached approximately 2,900-3,000 TL. The final floor price to be announced is expected to directly determine both producer sustainability and the balance sheets of the factories.
Production Cost and Revenue Balance
Under conditions where the cost per ton is accepted as 3,000 TL, a purchase price of 3,700 TL leaves producers with a profit margin of approximately 700 TL per ton. According to field calculations, the average production cost per decare for sugar beet hovers around 18,000 to 19,000 TL. For a farm yielding 6 tons per decare, the cost per ton rises to the 3,000-3,167 TL range. In these circumstances, a purchase price of 3,700 TL generates a gross revenue of 22,200 TL per decare, leaving farmers with a net income of approximately 3,200 to 4,200 TL per decare after deducting costs.
Producer Profit Based on Yield Rate
Yield variations across production regions play a decisive role in the final profit a farmer will achieve. For a farm with a per-decare cost of 19,000 TL, producers need to harvest at least 5.14 tons of sugar beet per decare at a purchase price of 3,700 TL just to cover their costs. If the yield decreases, the producer's margin can rapidly erode and turn into a loss. Projections by sector representatives reveal that the 3,700 TL price level may be insufficient for producers in areas experiencing regional yield losses, while it could maintain profitability on fields with high yields.
