Raw Milk Producers Losing Five Lira Per Liter
· GıdaTarım

TÜSEDAD announced that the production cost of raw milk has risen to 29.34 TL, demanding an urgent update to the recommended sales price, which remains fixed at 24.30 TL.
Cost Pressure and Price Demand
Müslüm Doğru, Chairman of the All Cattle Breeders Association (TÜSEDAD), announced that the production cost of raw milk reached 29.34 TL per liter as of September. The recommended raw milk sales price, announced by the National Milk Council (USK) and effective since May 1, is 24.30 TL net per liter. Doğru noted that the difference has reached 5.04 TL, forcing producers to sell at 17.2% below their cost. While input costs rise daily, prices remaining at the same level as seven months ago directly threaten producer sustainability. In this context, it is requested that the Council convene urgently in November to update the recommended price.

Sectoral Risks and Feed Decline
Müslüm Doğru stated that suppressing producer prices does not contribute to fighting inflation, and shelf prices continue to rise, emphasizing that producers face the risk of exiting the sector. The most concrete indicator of the economic bottleneck emerged in the feed market. According to TÜSEDAD data, feed sales have declined by approximately 15% to 20% compared to the same period last year. Doğru pointed out that breeding farms have shifted from increasing production to merely preserving their existing assets, warning that production at a loss could trigger the slaughter of breeding animals. Therefore, a fair pricing policy that covers costs for raw milk needs to be implemented without delay.
