Hazelnut producers in Ordu have started threshing operations in their yards after completing the harvest, with the hourly cost of operating a thresher rising to 6,000 Turkish Lira.
Hazelnut producers in Ordu have begun threshing operations in their yards to prepare the harvested crops for sale. Hazelnuts, collected from the orchards and dried for a period, are being separated from their husks using threshing machines. Producer Engin Yüksel stated that they are working intensively in their yards for post-harvest threshing and drying of the products.
This season has seen an increase in the cost of threshing services, a significant expense for producers. The hourly rate for operating a thresher, which was 4,500 TL last year, has risen to 6,000 TL this season. Hazelnuts separated from their husks are then spread out in the yards to dry, aided by the warm weather, before being made ready for storage and sale.
