Melki Mushrooms Hit Market Stalls in Tavşanlı Following Increased Rainfall

Following autumn rains in Kütahya's Tavşanlı district, melki mushrooms collected by forest villagers have appeared on market stalls, with prices falling as supply increases.

Melki Mushroom Season in Tavşanlı Mountains

Following autumn rains in Kütahya's Tavşanlı district, melki mushrooms, which grow naturally in the forests at higher altitudes, have been collected and put on sale at market stalls. Mountain mushrooms, a crucial source of livelihood for forest villagers, are attracting significant interest from the local population.

Producer Cemil Akdağ described the season's timeline and the current situation with the following words:

'This season starts around October 9th, gains momentum after the 15th, and continues until the snow falls. Of course, the most important factor is abundant rainfall. If it rains, these mushrooms will be plentiful. Currently, prices are high due to low supply; however, as the supply increases, prices will fall and stabilize.'

Prices Gradually Decreasing with Increased Rainfall

Prices, which were high at the beginning of the season due to limited supply, have started to decline as the quantity of the product gradually increases. Producer Cemil Akdağ shared the price movements in the market with the following data:

'When it first came out, the price was 500 Lira. It has now dropped to 400 Lira, and we are currently selling it at 350 Lira. As the product becomes more widespread in the market, we expect the price to fall to 200 Lira.'

It is anticipated that if rainfall continues in the coming days, the supply of products on the stalls will increase, consequently driving prices down to the 200 Turkish Lira level and stabilizing the market.
